PARISH NEWS / NEWYDDIONY PLWYF

Sincere Thanks to Mr Don Griffiths for decorating the church with his amazing collection of naval flags for Sea Sunday a week ago, and to everyone who contributed to the retiring collection for the Mission to Seafarers.

Deadline for Parish Magazine The deadline for contributions to the August/September issue of the Parish Digest/Papur y Plwyf is Monday 23 July. Please could you send any contributions to Vince James. Many thanks to Vince for his wonderful work as editor of the magazine, and to all those who continue to send in articles, photographs and news items.

Building work and the Organ The building work within the church has now been completed, apart from some of the painting. The organ builders are engaged elsewhere at the moment, but should be able to start work in late July or August and will take about three weeks to put everything back in place. We are especially grateful to Nigel Morgans, the builder, and to Mrs Rosemary Bowen, our PCC Secretary, for her wonderful contribution as ‘clerk of works’ of the project, and to Mr Nigel Roberts and Mr Edwin Jones for their support. A special thank you to everyone for your amazing patience and faithfulness while the repairs were going on.

MindfulnessI have asked Kristie Griffiths, the ordinand whom I am mentoring, the latest addition to our Ministry Team, to start a Mindfulness Group at Christ Church, and she has agreed. Watch this space for details, and have a word with Kristie if you are interested.

PARISH NEWS / NEWYDDION Y PLWYF

Building work and the Organ The building work within the church has now been completed (hooray!). There are still a few bits and pieces to be finished outside. The organ builders are engaged elsewhere at the moment, but should be able to start work in mid-July or August and will take about three weeks to put everything back in place. We are especially grateful to Nigel Morgans, the builder, and to Mrs Rosemary Bowen, our PCC Secretary, for her wonderful contribution as ‘clerk of works’ of the project. Llongyfarchiadau/Congratulationsto the Reverend Wyn Maskell on his ordination to the priesthood yesterday at St Davids Cathedral. Bydd Wyn yn offeiriad neilltuol, ac rydym yn ddiolchgar dros ben am ei gyfraniad i fywyd ysbrydol a cherddorol ein heglwys. Wyn is celebrating Communion in English for the first time this morning. Fe weinyddir y cymun yn Gymraeg ganddo am y tro cyntaf wythnos i heddiw.

A Warm Welcometo Mrs Kristie Griffiths, who is joining our ministry team today. Kristie has been assisting as a worship leader in St Peter’s, and is coming to us to broaden her experience, before proceeding on to ordination. She will be a lively and delightful addition to our parish family. Kristie is a teacher of Mindfulness, which is a method of helping people to cope with stress and anxiety, and is at the heart of the Christian spiritual tradition (Jesus said “Let not your hearts be troubled”), and is sometimes known as ‘the sacrament of the present moment’. I have asked Kristie to start a Mindfulness Group at Christ Church, and she has agreed to do so during the summer holidays. Watch this space for details, and have a word with Kristie if you are interested.

On the Table at the Back of the Church The latest issue of our magazine, The Parish Digest / Papur y Plwyf is now available at the back of the church. We shall attend one of the Abbey services and take packed lunches with us, which we shall eat in the Abbey refectory, and there will be a chance to enjoy the peace of the Abbey and its surroundings.
