PARISH NEWS / NEWYDDIONY PLWYF

OrdinandsIt is a great joy to welcome back Heulwen Evans, who is training for ordination at Trinity College, Bristol. Mae’n hyfrydwch neilltuol i glywed bod Heulwen yn cael blas ar ei hyfforddiant – dymunwn bob llwyddiant iddi. Archdeacon Dorrien has formally requested that Christ Church should sponsor Kristie Griffiths as a Local Non-Stipendiary Ministry Ordinand for our Local Ministry Area.

The Parish Digest/Papur y Plwyf for August and September is now available at the back of the church. Many thanks to the editor, Mr Vince James, for another wonderful issue, and to those who contributed news, articles and photographs.

The Reverend Delyth Richards returns from New Zealand this week. She will be licensed as

Stipendiary Associate Priest of Carmarthen St David (Christ Church) and Diocesan Schools

Officer by Bishop Joanna at a special service in Christ Church at 6pm on Sunday 9

September.

The Organ The organ builders are engaged elsewhere at the moment, and have

unfortunately said that they willonly be able to put part of the organ back in time for it to be

used for our Christmas concert and services, and will then finish the re-installation after

Christmas. We are hugely grateful to Meirion Wynn Jones for lending us his amazing

digital harpsichord to help fill in the gap.

Mothers Union There will be no meeting in August. The next meeting will be on Monday

3 September, when Kristie Griffiths will be talking about ‘Mindfulness’.

Proposed Local Ministry Area We have agreed a rota of services up to Christmas.

Parochial Church Council / Cyngor Eglwysig y Plwyf The next meeting will be in the

Church Office on Monday 10 September at 7pm

‘Hat Sunday’ The Reverend Delyth Richards is planning a ‘Hat Sunday’ on 2 September, at which everyone (male and female) is invited to wear a hat at our services. She’ll tell us more on her return from the Antipodes.

Mistaken Identity I was pursued along Lammas Street the other day by a gentleman who was convinced that I was the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Salzburg. This was rather startling as I am neither a Roman Catholic nor an archbishop, and I only have a very vague ideawhere Salzburg is….                                                                                               Canon Patrick
