Mrs Lil Davies, one of Christ Church’s greatest characters, celebrated her 99th birthday last week. Lil is now in Peniel Care Home, where she is being looked after extremely well by the caring staff. We send her our warmest best wishes.

Postponed Visit Because of the forthcoming General Election, the First Minister’s visit to the Model Church in Wales School did not take place last week. Professor Mark Drakeford will now be visiting the school on Tuesday 17 December.
Tenovus Cancer Concert The annual concert in this church in aid of the Tenovus Cancer Charity will take place on Thursday 28 November at 7pm.
Church Coffee Morning / Bore Coffi’r Eglwys in the Hall on Saturday 30 November from 10am to Midday.

Thank you to my colleagues for taking the services here last Sunday while I was away in Cardiff leading trilingual devotions to commemorate the twelfth anniversary of the dedication of the khatchkar (cross-stone) in honour of the million and a half martyrs of the Armenian Genocide during the First World War. The Welsh Armenians have now asked me to write a book about the origin, history and religious symbolism of khatchkars (their equivalent of our Celtic crosses). Canon Patrick
